RE: Axle alignment - southeastern AZ ?

Do you have a tire wear out on one side?? That is only a indication something is wrong on your axle. I had the same problem. One Tire on my 5th Wheeler wear out on the inner site. Some told me it is a bended axle. I changed the axle, adjusted it with a tape measure and a angle on the 5er chassis. I'm sure it was perfect adjusted. But after 3000 Miles on my Alaska trip this year, the problem was still there. So we find out, the tire was not wear out during rolls on the road, it's happened during breaking. The Wheels blocks, move the hole axle (just a little bit) and the tire wears out. It was simple the movement dependence of wear out the bolt holes from Shackle links, Equalizer, Bushings. I bought a hole tandem axle kit $62, changed it and the the problem was solved.

RE: Garmin GPS Mexico Road Map

I use Mexico Major Road map for Garmin GPS on a GARMIN GPSMAP 60x. I works fine, but only the Major Roads are displayed. The price is just $99. You find screen shots http://www.global-map.net/mx/screen_shots.html.

RE: How are the mosquitoes this year?

We are since 14 days between Homer and Soldotna here. Have not seen any mosquitos here, no miracles, are all frozen. Most between 46 - 56 degrees...

RE: Slider Hitches-Do you need to remove weight when changing?

Maybe on depending on the trailers weight. My 5th (24RL Wildcat) is not so heavy. I block the Trailer wheels, bring the handle of the Reese slider hitch (is a 16k hitch but a 18k slider with round tubes) in moving position, press the manual break switch on my Primus break controller to block the trailer wheels and move slowly and carefully my truck to bring the hitch in the driving position or in moving direction. I didn't find any rules to move the slider with landing gears down in my Reese instructions manual.

RE: Special modifications for a short bed truck?

I have since 2 years, a F250 Ford, Short Bed with a Reese Slider Hitch with Square Tubes. In this time, I used the manual Slide not more then three times on a campground, but I didn't need the slider not really, if I had more praxis. In normal travel condition I had never a situation who I need the slider.

RE: What would your argument be for getting a 5'er rather..

I have in Germany, a small RV. But I was for a long time before a TT owners. In the States, I have since two years, a 5th Wheeler. So, I know all three vehicles. The main difference between a TT and a 5th Wheeler is the towing Behavior. A 5th Wheeler is much calmer in poor road conditions it runs really as an 5th Wheel... The parking at the campsite after some exercise is easier. Through its design, it offers more space for the same length as a TT. The disadvantage is a 5ers you need a pickup for a sufficient TT a normally family car.

RE: Comparing Wildcat,Keystone Laredo,Jayco Eagle SuperLite

We have an 25' Wildcat. Ok. it is a small one but we traveled now two times ( 2x6 Month Periods, depending on my Visa) in Mexico and Country Roads in the States. We like the Floor plan, specially the Shower and it has a lot of storages. For this Price range it is well built. As we bought it, 2 Years a go, we didn't know this 5th Wheeler is a just build for use in warmer regions. It consumes a lot of energies to cool it down or heating up when it is cold outside. The furnace runs the hole night as we visits Copper Canyon with 30°F, depending of a really Cheaply built, isolation. We was looking for an other brand but we found out in this price range $23000 - $35000 are all the same, only any small nuances are different and the purchase is always a question of personal taste. Now we looking for a small 5er with Rear Kitchen, and built for all season. A very nice Brands are, Titanium, also it is a 28' but towing as an 25'.
